Today we will discuss the story of a verse in the Holy Quran:
(Move not your tongue concerning to make haste therewith.) (It is certainly upon Us to make you memorize and recite it. So once We have recited a revelation ˹through Gabriel˺, follow its recitation ˹closely˺. Then it is surely upon Us to make it clear to you.) Surah Al-Qiyamah
Let us look at the following paragraphs to discuss these verses.
God Almighty has guaranteed to preserve the Holy Quran until the Day of Resurrection when it is removed from the earth. No creature has any merit in that, and no one can change a letter in it.
God preserved it because it is the last revealed book It is the proof against mankind on the Day of Resurrection.
God has placed it in the hearts of believing men and women, to be preserved and understood, passed down from generation to generation.
As for the noble verse ((Move not your tongue concerning to make haste therewith), the reason for its revelation is the keenness of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to memorize the Qur’an and study it so that he would not forget it.
The Angel Gabriel would come down to him and recite the revelation to him, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, would feel intense when the revelation came down to him, so the Prophet would hasten to recite the Qur’an during the revelation so that he would not forget what was revealed to him.
This made the matter more difficult for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
The companions saw the difficulty of the matter on the face of the Prophet and his sweating when the angel descended upon him. So his reading and reviewing what was revealed to him a little while ago during the revelation was coming down made the matter more difficult, so Allah the Blessed and Exalted said:
Do not move your tongue in reading the Quran before the angel finishes reciting it to you, for it is upon Us to collect the Quran in your chest and heart and we will make you read it as it should be read correctly, but if We read it, O Messenger of Allah, then follow its correct reading and act according to what is in it of what is permissible and forbidden, commandments, acts of worship, and other things. (Then it is surely upon Us to make it clear to you.)
Allah tells His Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that it is upon Allah to explain and clarify what is in it of matters of belief, worship, and dealings for you so that you understand it and convey it to the people as Allah wanted. This is evidence that Allah taught the Prophet the meanings of the Holy Qur’an as He wanted so that he could teach the people the matters of their religion correctly. Therefore, if the Companions found something they did not understand in the Qur’an, they would refer to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, so that he could explain it to them.
Finally, after we have presented the story of a verse, we would like to show you that the Quran is a preserved book and there is no way to distort it until the Day of Resurrection, no matter what the devils of mankind and jinn do. If you have memorized it in your heart or studied its meanings, then God has chosen you for a great honor that God chooses for only those whom He honors with it in this world and the hereafter, because God chooses for His book only those who are believers. We ask God for sincerity in memorizing it, reciting it, and acting by what is in it so that it may intercede for us on the Day of Resurrection.
